Daddario PW-CP-18: Experience?
Hi,
I'm looking for a capo with the minimum amount of retuning for my Martin HD28. I currently have a Shubb capo and the retuning is too long with it when live before the audience. I thought about the Daddario because of the design and the price is not too high (I do not want to spend more than $100 for a capo). Thank you! Cheers |

I got one for $50 on reverb. It’s a nice capo. I think the Shubb Fine Tune is a better investment if you don’t want to spend on a G7 Heritage or Elliott. I have all of the above. I’m using the D’adarrio for bluegrass jams because it is less likely to get stollen. But, I would recommend the Shubb instead. It’s made of nicer materials and feels smoother. If retuning is a problem, try a G7th P2 capo. Make sure you capo right adjacent to the fret wire. Don’t over tighten. I use yoke capos because I think they sound better. But, I like G7th P2 for ease of use at gigs. I use medium gauge strings which don’t seem to be as affected by capo application.

Between the Shubb FT and the D'addario CP-18 would you say one is better than the other in terms of time to retune the guitar?

They’re equivalent. Retuning is mostly a function of technique and the radius of the capo matching the fretboard.
