Taylor Custom GA - $8,000 build - $old
So I recently picked up a pretty much unplayed Custom Taylor Grand Auditorium guitar. This guitar had a build cost of over $8,000 (I can provide the original build sheet).
I love the guitar, it's stunning and sounds absolutely amazing I just have become so used to GC guitars and the short scale I am just struggling with this. It's a shame as it is the most beautiful guitar I will probably ever own. Visual This guitar has some of the most amazing figured back and sides I have ever seen. The build sheet notes a specific wood selection and notes "crazy figured rosewood" and was a $1,000 upcharge. The pale engelmann gives the burst an almost milky color to it. The antique Gotoh tuners are spectacular and the abalone rosette top is classy and not brash. Match this with the figured Koa binding and this guitar is absolutely stunning. Sound I have always loved how engelmann rosewood has taken some of the piercing sound out of spruce and provides a mellow tone to the guitar. It doesn't take this much force to get this thing moving thanks to the adi cv bracing. It responds well to a light touch and can handle strumming with ease. Equiped with the new ES2 the guitar has a very natural amplified sound. Condition It was pretty much mint when I got it a couple of weeks ago but I dropped my cell phone on top of it like a moron putting 2 dings in it. Taylor said they could repair it for $150 or I could take it to a gold authorized repair center and they could do the work...or I could just leave it alone. It is in the darker part of the burst finish so it is a little harder to see but I need to make sure this is noted. The guitar does not have a pick guard installed but it does come with a Taylor tortoise pick guard in the case. I have also put a static/reusable Taylor pick guard on so that it doesn't pick up any pick marks. Outside of the ding it looks pretty much unplayed. Specs 2016 6 string GA - $3,000 Nut width 1-3/4" Standard scale Custom Rosewood Back and Sides (Crazy figure...that's literally what the build sheet says) $1,000 Engelmann Spruce Top $250 Ebony Peghead $50 Adirondack CV Bracing $200 Hawaiian Koa Binding $600 Abalone Rosette $100 Taylor Paua Logo $250 Early 900 series peghead inlay $180 Abalone trip top $1000 Tobacco Sunburst Top $200 Gotoh 510 Antique Gold Tuners $175 Bone nut $120 ES2 $400 Paua twisted oval inlay $750 Pearloid bridge pins $6 (DEAL MAKER!!) Is that East Indian Rosewood??
Might want to add nut width, saddle spacing, scale length, and the model year.

rosweood?
That looks like it could be beautifully figured Honduran Rosewood?
If you call Taylor with the serial number, they will tell you in about 30 seconds what type of rosewood it is. Nice guitar, good deal, GLWS! |
