Default 1950s(?) Mozart Mahogany Archtop - Need Info

I just acquired an archtop guitar that was in a closet since 1962 when its owner passed away. The story is that the guitar was purchased used by her husband in the 1950s so that she could learn to play guitar, but was put in a closet when she passed away.

The guitar appears to be solid top carved mahogany (but am not certain, I do not see the cross grain of a laminate on the edges of the f-holes). Back, sides and neck are mahogany. Fingerboard is Rosewood. The back is arched as well.

I have never heard of the guitar company and cannot find anything on the web.

Any help would be greatly appreciated in identifying this guitar.

Jason

It looks good. How does it sound. Can you play it comfortably?

Maybe the original owner asked the builder to put "Mozart" on the headstock. Can you find a serial number or any other markings on the inside?

https://books.google.com/books?id=o_...dstock&f=false

I searched Google for "guitar with mozart written on the headstock" and found this page.

If I'm reading correctly. It was built by Kay.

Fingerboard inlays and body/f-hole shape suggest Kay, strip tuners and tailpiece tell me this is a lower-line model so almost certainly not carved (could be a solid pressed top - several companies were known to do this, and it would explain the lack of lamination layers on the f-hole edges), definitely a survivor given the excellent condition - if is sounds as good as it looks use it well and often...
