Excellent James! I'm looking forward to picking one of these up in the near future. If it's as good as I hope, I'll be putting my TC Helicon Play Acoustic up for sale.

Thanks for the heads-up on the User Manual being available to check out.
The manual seems pretty straight forward and understandable. It was nice to see a reference to dealing with pickups like the Barbera Soloist and Baggs LB6 included. It was also reassuring to read about the "character select" and note that much consideration and effort has gone into providing a less ambient sound (when needed) which will cut through a heavy mix. Lastly, my sense of humor appreciated the little aside about the bypass function - that one of its purposes is to remind us of how much we need ToneDexter. Although I only have one guitar/pickup rig which needs ToneDexter that desperately, I definitely hope that ToneDexter fulfills its promise of being a solid step forward in the realm of acoustic instrument amplification. Having a device which can (metaphorically speaking) produce silk from multiple sow's ear pickups in multiple instruments would sure beat the effort and expense of installing multiple state-of-the-art pickups in those instruments. And if ToneDexter happens to provide to a better and more stable amplified sound than those state-of-the-art pickups (plus whatever preamps may be needed for best results), that will be some pretty impressive icing on the ToneDexter cake. |
