Default Fretboard problem

There's a white part at the side of my guitar's fretboard near the sound hole that kind of looks like hard white glue, I was unable to take a picture but I will be posting another forum regarding this topic with photos.

It looks like its some sort of glue and I'm afraid it might damage my guitar's fretboard. I was wondering where it came from since I take good care of my guitar.

Will this affect my guitar or is it just the paint fading off?

Brixton. So just to clarify, did this white 'part' appear after you owned the instrument a while, or has it been there all the time? Also, if it's the former, are you sure that you didn't just notice it, or are you certain that it's a recent development? And finally, do you now have a photo that you can share?
