Default Schatten HFN Artist Pickup?

Hi Guys,
has anyone heard or used one of these pickups.
The model I am talking about is the under bridge transducer with endpin preamp
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Hi,
I have used the Schatten HFN Artist in my Avalon A200 and postet a soundsample a while ago.
http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...light=schatten
I was very satisfied with the very natural sound and recording qualitiy, but somehow frustrated to make it sound as good in a live situation. I got a lot of boominess and feedback, so I changed all my guitars to LR Baggs Dual Source or LR Baggs iMix. I am happier now on a live situation, even the Schatten had some great advantages regarding body percussion and the wooden sound of the soundboard.

So if you don't play too loud or mostly want to record with it, I can recommend the Schatten PU. BTW it can be a bit tricky to find the best position and what kind of glue you choose to fix it in the guitar.

Thanks for the info,
i want to use it in a Jumbo guitar, and i do play pretty loud.
I play a lot of loud settings with my other guitars and they are set up for that, but i want this guitar to use on Sat arvo laid back gigs that aren't that loud.
The main reason I was thinking of this instead of a K&K PWM is the boominess in a live situation, So maybe this one isnt for me
What other suggestions do you have
Thanks

Hi, as I wrote. I converted to LR Baggs. I even love the DUAL Source more than the iMix what I did not expect, because I was so thrilled by the sound of my Mcilroy with the iMix, but than I got the DUAL Source installed in the Avalalon and the sound of the internal microphone really shined and no feedback issues. Never got that good results in a live situation before and I tried almost all systems (AER, BBand, Fishman, Schertler etc).

Here are some soundclips (not very good ones) with the Avalon and the LR Baggs DUAL Source.

Take 1 up to 0:35m I only use the Piezo called Element and after that I included the interenal micro. I hope you can hear how the microphone adds life and breath to the sound.

Take 2 also with Microphone and I improvised some more percussive stuff, so you can hear how the microphone transferes the woody noise from the soundboard.

Take 3 also with microphone and you can hear all the details also the unwanted :o) in the playing. Over my Roland SA-300 or my Genz Bens Akustic amp it sound a lot better.

Hoep that helps.

I have this pickup in my Larrivee and I love it. It sounds alot like the Ibeam, just cheaper. I tried the PWM, but i prefer the Schatten.
