OK, I take back what I said before. That's hot! I still think this guitar might be happier in my collection.

You'll probably be in luck because Tom's running out of room in his fancy pants cabinet!

It really does doesn't it. I like the way the shell jumps now too and still enough contrast that the snakewood diamonds and purfling still show!

Thank you! This whole guitar was intended to be dark and rich, to underscore Tom's Man Of Mystery persona. (He's supposedly working on that right now) It's always a bit nerve wracking to apply a burst (at least for me) because there is only one direction you can go- darker, darker, darker. But in this case, I just love the results. The wood grain is not obscured at the edges, even though it is quite dark. Staining the actual wood brown allowed me to get the darkness without having all the pigment in the toner, and thereby obscuring the grain. And that paua is pretty sweet against the coffee bean brown. Can't wait to hear it!

This is a beautiful guitar, Ben. I’ve enjoyed following along...and am looking forward to hearing her sweet voice when you’re done.

There are three things I would not want to be in charge of on a guitar:

1) Drilling holes for the bridge

2) Drilling holes for the headstock

3) Burst finish

Its funny, but you get used to it, and it no longer makes you want to barf when you have to cut or drill. But it is true- those are some hard-to
-undo things!

Thank you. The only problem is I might have a hard time getting Ben to give this up!
