Not always true these days.

By the way I have 2 Caltons (Olson and Baskin) and Cedar Creek (Kronbauer) and that is the way I ordered them when commissioning them.

Good tip! Next time I buy a pricey guitar, I'll ask for case included.

I own a number of cases. My hands down favorite are the Hiscox ones. Access is a poor second. Good value though.

Hi LeDave
Ask if the case is included, and if not, for the quote on a case included price. We recently bought our 38yr old son an American Guild, and the case would have been $150 to order on-line, but the store included it for $89 since we bought it at the same time. It was not the basic case, nor the super-deluxe one (there were options).

The guitar was a Guild Jumbo and those are not a standard case you can buy just anywhere.

If commissioning guitars cases are wise to add, and upcharges expected.

I traveled a lot during the times these were built for me, so travel/air-flight cases were not optional.

Original cases as well. Don't buy guitars without cases. If I'm doing a fly date. I'll rent whatever crap I can find when I get there. Would rather play an acoustic that lives where I am going to play. Guitar tech don't fly with me.

I've only had to buy a case for my acoustics twice.

one was for my 1978 Alvarez Yari, the guitar outlived original case by over 20 years. I bought a silver creek case when I finally decided to ditch the old one (an SKB style molded case)

It fits like it was made for it. The exterior is a little sketchy, but the interior is great.

I bought a Guild 12 string 2 winters ago that came with a Guild soft/hard case, (it's actually a very good case, and I probably could have just used that) But I bought a Gator Jumbo case instead.

The others live in the cases they came with (3 Taylors and an SJ200)

Original Martin OM TKL case for the Martin, and a cheap Golden Gate hard case for the Blueridge. Wouldn't mind the soft case, but I feel better about controlling humidity in a cheap HSC.

Wow.. really? that's a totally unfair practice.

If the guitar ships with the case, they should be obligated to sell it with the case, unless they are making a fair exchange for the cost of both.

otherwise, that's just crooked.

And some of these store owners wonder why people just go online..

My Takamine's are in Gator cases. The Indiana's are in Diamond cases that I got a really good deal on.

The Lotus is in the "cardboard" case that was purchased with the guitar in the 80's.

My mandolin is in a Glarry case. I got this case because I figured it was better then nothing. Was I pleasantly surprised when it arrived. If someone doesn't want to spend a lot of money, this is the one I tell them about.

A Custom Ameritage case for a parlor guitar. Well built, fits great but heavy; too heavy. Have it in the closet and bought a TKL instead.

I have a friend who buys a few new guitars a year and a Hiscox case for every one, mostly for the weight and protection. Sells the new Collings and Martin cases right away. Finding these used is going to be tough, as it would have to be someone unhappy with them. I won't say it will never happen, but don't hold your breath.
