Default 'America The Beautiful' arr. Bob Minner

In November 2019 we spent 4 days in New York City. When this time of the year comes around I like to recollect that great holiday we had.

This short take on 'America the Beautiful' is based on an arrangement by Bob Minner which I worked out from his video (hope you don't mind Bob!) and added an intro/outro with a few other very minor changes. He plays it hybrid style (pick and fingers) but I couldn't do that so chose to play it fingerstyle.

Brook Lyn in dropped D.

Hope you like it.

Phil, nice job on that. Actually like it better than Bob's recording because his slide notes are IMO more a minus than a plus.

Beautiful indeed!
The kind of tune that shines brighter with a more understated approach and delivery. Just like that!
Very nicely played and great tone. Thanks for sharing this.

That was really really nice. I saw that video of Bob on FB I think and told myself I was going to learn it, but I hadn't gotten around to it, now yours is so good, I don't think I could do it justice.

Hi Phil,

That was really lovely! A wonderful arrangement and you played it beautifully! Just the right touch!

Sometimes someone from outside a country has to pick up a country's music and mirror it back so that it can be appreciated from a new perspective. I have never even been to New York City, I live over 3000 miles away on the opposite coast, but I can recognize a photo of Central Park when I see it. I found the end of your piece brought out quite a bit of emotion.

I bet Ken Burns would really appreciate hearing you play that!

Thanks so much, Phil!

- Glenn
