Default Mouth Trumpet and Other Vocal Accompaniment

On my solo stuff I'm always looking at ways to "mix it up", sticking with old school effects versus electronic enhancement. I'm messing with "mouth trumpet"--it's pretty easy to get it going, but hard to get it "good enough". I find that my range is much more limited vs my singing range, and it is hard on my voice. Meredith is my favorite at this technique, as she really knows the music and what an actual trumpet would play, plus she has the vocal chops--check it out (trumpet comes in about 2:50):

I also do a little "scat" singing as well as whistling to create interest in some songs where taking a guitar solo isn't practical. I do understand that a little goes a long way with these techniques. Got anything to share?

Kazoo. A little probably would go a long way. Good enough for Jesse Fuller and Jimi.

I was at my five year old grand daughter's birthday Saturday and one of her friends was showing me how to do beat box.

A young friend has a neat solo acoustic act playing tunes written before he was born for geezers like me. He will often whistle a solo break, and he has a keyboard that he will play over guitar loops. Very talented fellow!

One of my favourites. Of course being a monster guitarist and singer helps a bit...

That was highly enjoyable.

I think it's a cute novelty, but sounds much more like a kazoo than anything resembling a trumpet. I couldn't listen it very long or too often.
