That back inlay mockup looks lovely, with its balance of dark and light.

Nah, we're saying the same thing--edge grain and end grain are 2 different things!

Agreed on the stunning aspect though--that is beautiful!

Love the back strip, but the back wood really caught my eye. You weren't kidding when you described it as "Brazilian, Slobod Unobtanium Grade Supreme Master Venti Platinum." Stunning stuff!

Yeah, when Slobod says "KIILLLER," you know it's going to be the stuff almost no one can find or offer.

Astonishing stuff. There simply cannot be better extant Brazilian rosewood.

That backstrip work is insane! What a beautiful job. Add in the incredible straight grain Braz, the obvious attention you're putting into design detail and the choice of John as a builder and I see a world-class result coming. I really am looking forward to seeing and hearing the results.

With John’s stupendous track record, I have no doubt it’ll be a mind blowing instrument. He’s built three for me and I bought one on spec. All are beyond belief.

Good news. Gurian has agreed to make the purfling. Don’t know what the timing will be given other stories if months-long waits, but at least it’s happening. I’m very excited about these decorative accents. So cool that John designed them himself.

I hear tell Gurian has started the process of making the purflings. Hard to know if it’ll be months from now or weeks.

I greatly admire your patience. But from the pictures it's going to be so worth it. Hoping it's on the shorter end for you.

Gurian has started the layup on the purflings. John has to send the veneer, but it should get going soon. That will allow John to move forward with the rest of the guitar.

It has been a very long wait for this purfling, but I love the look and value the fact that it'll be out-of-the-ordinary. I'm not aware of any style 30/34 purflings that are readily available that are also aesthetically pleasing. Too many of the styles out there look like candy canes.

The last of the veneers needed for this purfling are on their way to Gurian. Hopefully, he will complete them soon so that John can finish off this 00.

I hear from Kevin at Gurian that he has started assembling the veneers and plans for complete the purfling by next week. Very good news. It has been a LOOOONG time coming.
