Hi Matt,

I do, too. The 000-28VS guitar sounds amazing in DADGAD.

I remember when I first took my OM-28 Marquis out of the box and case to tune it...it sounded great right out of the box and while being tuned! It's really a wonderful guitar. Congratulations on your new Martin!

+1 I've not played anywhere near every model Martin offers, but a 000-18 is at the top of my list.

A Martin of my dreams would actually be a Collings, but I do like very much my 00-15. Any reason why it seems all guitars mentioned are rosewood ?

What if one prefers mahogany over rosewood, like me for example ?

How do I upload pictures? I can only choose to insert a URL, so where could I upload them?

@GibbyPrague: I just went with the Martins I read the most about on the net (also I haven't been that long into Martin guitars as of yet , so excuse me for neglecting other fine mahagoni guitars )

That's silly. Collings sound the least like Martins of the usual players Bourgeois/Santa Cruz/Collings/H&D. You may prefer the sound of a Collings, that's your business, but Martin owners aren't lusting for Collings, and those that do buy them. Like saying my favorite Ford is a Chevy..............

The list missed many guitars I would had added to, absolutely the HD-28V and yes there should have been some mahogany, GE's and Authentics are wonderful guitars.

Hey Rich,

Ain't nothing like a Martin eh? I'm trying to find the time to head down to the local distributor to try the 2012 OM-21. I hope there's an 'improvement' to my ears. Maybe then I can decide which Martin OM or 000 to go for.

Rich - that is exactly what Gibby meant. It's O.K. - he's family.

I did try the D-18A when I was back in Australia Landru, and to be honest I didnt like it much. It was just way over the top for me, like a D-18 on major steroids, not my cup of tea. I much prefer the simplicty of the 15 and plain 18 series Martins, much more balanced.

However I can definitely imagine many finding this tone appealing, but not me.

And, to my ears I hear a heluva lot of Martin in Collings dreadnougth guitars, especially D2H. But I also hear clarity, balance, responsiveness, which I dont hear so much in rosewood Martins.

So, no, I stick to what I said, a dream rosewood Martin would be a Collings for me, in particular a well played in D2H.

Default OM-28 Marquis "Madagascar"?

Apparently there are also OM-28 Marquis Models with Madagascar Rosewood. Does anybody have a clue as to what the differences between these and the regular OM-28 Marquis are tone-wise?
If I remember correctly they are quite a bit more expensive - is that owed to superior tone or scarcity of the wood?
I'm just curious because I don't see a single OM-28 Marquis Madagascar in stock in ANY german shop.

oh and still, I can't upload photos since I would have to paste a URL. Where could I upload those for free?

Regards,
Kevin
