Here is one proposed color scheme for Paul's guitar.
The rosette in the cedar top is koa with bw purfling lines and radial zebrawood sandwiched between. Can't decide whether or not an inner circle is needed. Its all moot anyway because I think we are going with a different rosette. the back is figured mahog of the African persuasion With a Koa center joint decor.

Gorgeous work John! Paul is going to be in heaven when he gets this one.
I love the inlays on Bob's guitar as well. Gorgeous work by Craig, beautiful design and work by John K!!

Love the rosette, especially the combination of a tidy "outer circle" and the textured (and thicker) inner layer.

We really have not settled on a rosette design yet. This is just the first iteration. I agree with you regarding Craig. Man has design chops.

So you dont think it needs another ring inside just like the one outside?

That's right, John. It's like a reverse infinity-pool with the borderless part on the inside, pouring into the soundhole

Gluing down the bridge
Gluing on the bridge on the padouk 12 string. Tuner mounting tomorrow and then I guess I'll go invest in some strings. Whew.
Wiping off the hot hide glue buggers. Easier cleanup than poly vinyl glue

The more I look at this, the more I like it...not to say I didn't like it before because I did...but it is growing more on me. I think the Koa has such a "tiger eye" effect that it really looks nice on that cedar.
