New Custom Commission: Lehmann Model Manouche
Hi,
I made a decsion to go ahead and commission a non-traditional Gypsy style guitar with Bernie Lehman. By non-traditional I mean both aesthetically and by construction. Bernie seems to have his own take on these instruments and has built them for a few decades now. Here is a blurb on some of his non-traditional construction techniques with Gypsy guitars: http://www.lehmannstrings.com/Articles/selmer.htm I have tried to eliminate aspects that I do not like in my current Gypsy guitar like strings that cut into the headstock, 3 on a plate tuners, ebony moustache bridge, garish tailpiece, long scale length etc. and create something that for lack of a better descriptor falls between my OM and my Archtop in feel and I am expecting it around tax time next year. I will post photos of the build if and as I get them. Bob
