That is some lovely looking wood...congrats on your project with Rory and it also looks like our rosettes/veneers are from the same cut of burl. He sent me the same photo. Burl brothers!

Best,

Best,
I think they're also from the same cut as my bevel came from! Can I join the party?

And that wood looks fantastic.

Thanks, yes really works as a four-piece back as well. Love watching this progress.

Sides now with full width linings - which are then laminated with the burl elm, back ready for bracing and laminated mahogany neck with thin purpleheart centre

I feel properly invested in this build - which is great as miner's now in finishing so there are no more photos (although I'm pretty sure I saw a glimpse of it on Instagram yesterday). How excited are you seeing it comes together? I loved seeing the process in detail.

Haha - Like a child at Christmas! I have been lucky to own many good guitars but never a custom build, so this is exciting! Its also great as I have now known Rory for 10 years + and there is something really nice about supporting local craft, especially when its heirloom quality.

As mentioned before, I am a very average player, so this is also about inspiring me to just play and practice more... a guitar you just can't put down.

I think your new and body were in the spray booth with a few of its siblings so not long to go for you now?

In the spray room for a few weeks so trying hard not to get too excited, but really hoping it's coming soon! Totally agree about being like a kid at Christmas. The pictures are like the world's greatest advent calendar!

Latest updates from Rory in Pittenweem ;-)

Back now braced with Rory's compression bracing

Next up the Burl veneer that Rory will line the sides with. The side construction is a triple sandwich: the solid Mad rose is given full width linings to which this veneer is laminated - Rory offers a selection here, but I went for the burl to match the external accents on the head plate, rosette and heel cap

Finally, neck scarf joint being all glued up. I went for cuban mahogany 2 slices with a purple heart thin accent

Beautiful woods and most interesting build sequences.
There is a lot of structure on those sides.

In what part of scotland are you presently living?
