Default Robot That Installs Guitar Strings

Hmmm..proof that robots aren't taking over as yet!

No robot to install my guitar strings!

So someone still installs all those guitar strings at Martin, for example.

It would be the ultimate in trust!

And it will be a very rich person that invents the RoboStringer...there I have the name!

Prolly, get the Mk2 version which plays it for you!
No fun!

There are quite a few robots playing guitar on Youtube, but none changing guitar strings..

Going for glory and not doing the hard yards, eh Robbie?

It would probably need a new guitar design where the guitar lies flat and have different string connectors for the robot to plonk the strings on and clamp....?

But ideally it could mean I say: "Robbie, change the guitar strings on the Martin OMC-15ME, please." While I play the Lowden S35, for example, probably in another room away from whirring robot noises.

The guitar would not have to lay flat. A 3D vision system can tell the robot everything it needs to know about the guitar.

I work in manufacturing and I am around robots all day. Now I am thinking about how I would go about programming and the end of arm tooling.

This could be done. Justifying the cost may be a challenge. Even for someone like Martin or Gibson. But I do think it could be done.

Ooohh...

I suppose the Martin factory model could be 'one task' but the home office model may need to be multi-tasking: polish guitar, check humidity, straighten neck, make coffee, make grilled sandwiches.......

Here are a couple of videos:

As long as I am willing to pay the "Lazy Man Tax" at ye olde music shoppe, I do not need no stinkin' robot to string my guitars.

A guitar changing robot would not be allowed if you play anything blues derived. You've got to suffer, if you want to sing the blues...

“Got me this ol’ gittar,
It’s got ol’ strings.
Ain’t got no robot,
Ah’ll just cry an’ sing.”

The factory of the future with nothing but robots, one man and a dog.
The man is there to feed the dog.
The dog is there to keep the man from touching the robots.

Human has all day to play guitar/change guitar strings!

The BMW robotics crew could probably come up with my home model Robostringer in a day!
