Martin 0-17 1947 SOLD!
Up for sale is a 1947 Martin 0-17 that show it’s age but is in perfect structural and playing condition. The guitar just recently got back from the luthier and needs nothing. It sounds great with newer 80-20 strings. Here are the repairs that have been done:
-neck reset -re-fretted -new reliced authentic tuners from stu-mac (originals included but need buttons and the new ones fit perfectly with no holes drilled) -new ebony nut -new compensated bone saddle -new bridge pins -bridge reset -back repair (partially oversprayed on the bottom only in the area (see pic) Besides the one back repair I see no other cracks. $2500 Last edited by Bluewyatt; 02-15-2019 at 04:13 PM. |

Here's the scoop: I took a chance and bought this on reverb trusting that it indeed had a neck reset, re-fret, bridge, etc. The cosmetics on a guitar this age would never bother me.. in fact I think it's cool.
I immediately brought the guitar over to Joe Glaser Instruments here in Nashville to get it assessed (as I always do). They said the neck set and re-fret were nicely done. I mentioned I was not comfortable with the set up and after going through all the measurements based on the original specs for this guitar, I was told that the radius of the saddle did not match the neck radius. I had them shape and install a new bone saddle and set the action. PERFECT!! I can't stress enough that all you have to do with this guitar is take it out of the case and play it. Trust me! :-) I just picked up a 00 so I'm letting this go to a good home. I can do $2400 shipped and PayPal'd. |
