Default Drop filling

How long should I wait after drop filling lacquer in a small ding to sand and buff out?
Thanks

Depending on heat and humidity, somewhere around a week or more.

Also depending on how deep the ding was. I'd wait at least 2 weeks, longer would be better.

I would put it on the "never get round to it" list!

Like asking how many licks to the center of a tootsie pop

Was the lacquer right out of the can or jelled? The biggest problem with lacquer drop fills isn't waiting for it to harden enough to cut and buff, it's out waiting the shrink back inherent in the product. Most chemical drying processes take on the order of 28-30 days to run their entire thing at the molecular level so I wait at least 1 month....

That's what I needed to hear. This is a dropped and filled area I did a year ago and it needs it again. Probably only a 64th or less deep but now but I can feel it.
thanks all

Lacquer dries by solvent evaporation, so temperature and humidity are not all that important. What IS important is ventilation. With that in mind, forced air from a fan will speed up the curing time.

Minimum a week, ideally a month IMO.
