Nothhing New under the sun.
A friend gave me a John Mayer CD, and I thought, "So how is he different from Dave Matthews?
I like both of thier styles. Are they unique, maybe not, but both have a good hold on rythm. I sure would like to play like them. Anyway, If you ever get to hear Michael Kelsey (from Indiana), he's a site to behold. You can check him out at www.MichaelKelsey.com. You won't regret it.

I like both DMB and John Mayer. I met John Mayer about 7 years ago at Eddie's Attic in Atlanta. My band was playing in an open mic night and we went to check it out the week before. John and a friend, Clay Cook, were playing on that open mic as "The Lo-Fi Masters". I have spoken with him several times on the phone and at local shows (once in the crapper). He "opened" for my band at The Strand in Marrieta. Seeing him live then was a lot better. He did a lot blues improv. (SRV style, that's his big influence). Get on the internet and look for some of his other stuff. I used to have a 5 song demo that he had handwritten the tracks on, but I can't find it anywhere.

I like the John Mayer of old, his acoustic stuff. He is a great blues guitar player too, but it all go ruined when I saw him in Pittsburgh this summer. He came out dancing to a Nelly song and was just trying to get the girls to scream (reminds of me the new blink182). He was decent in concert, but it pissed me off, it's like he was only trying to get a girl for the night.
