This is a newer rosette design for me. I've also made one with Koa instead of the spalted Tamarind and was quite happy with that one also. Thanks Again, Mark

Love the rosette Mark. Something about it seems familiar but I can't put my finger on it. Great design to pull all those elements together.

Thanks Ukejon!
I'm going to step back for a minute to the first BRW Josie with the Bloodwood trim. I've gotten some really nice feedback on this color scheme and a client that I am building a Greta for has asked for something similar. This is a Greta model with Indian Rosewood and an Engelmann top. We're doing the same thing with the Bloodwood and I'm very pleased how it's coming along and thought I'd share: Thanks for viewing! Mark

Definitely an awesome combination of woods. It isn't any wonder it draws positive feedback. Love the silking in that Englemann as well.

Bloodwood is an interesting color to work with, I usually favor black ebony and Cocobolo for binding but this brick red color really is a different animal. It's not particularly figured so that can be part of the contrast to show of the body lines of a guitar with highly figured back and side wood. Say, for instance, this Claro Walnut set: Mark

Resawing Bastogne Walnut
It seems weekends have become my time to resaw and this weekend it's the Bastogne Walnut billets I recently purchased:
Bastogne Walnut is a hybrid of Claro and English Walnuts and I believe it is the hardest and stiffest in the walnut family. As I said in previous postings, this walnut will have the most rosewood like sound qualities. When I was cleaning up this set for these pictures I was amazed by the silky and relatively pore free surface. I was able to resaw three full guitar back and side sister sets from the two billets. There is also enough left over from the side billet to do a neck or two. Beautiful, isn't it? Mark

You seem to get your hands on some of the most beautiful wood.
Is there a special "knack" for this ability? Do you have a secret inside connection somewhere? This is not good for all us "GAS addicts" you know.

+1 to all of that. The woods coming out of this shop are truly amazing. One does not have to look far on this thread to prove that. OMG

Now that is some beautiful Bastogne. Betcha that shimmer is wild in person. Love the grain on the sides too. An awesome set.

That is the first Bastogne I've seen that I covet. It is sinfully good looking!
