You made me look at mine and try it. For mine I just have to give a little pull to two of the legs, then push down on the knob. Opens up easily. Funny things is that last Friday I used it with a group of friends and had a difficult time opening it. Had you not brought this up I would still be fussing with it. Otherwise, I love the stand.
