Which pickup sound for a quick demo?

I tried a Lyric pickup some years ago after they first came out. My problem with it was every squeak and tap and bump on the guitar was amplified too much for my comfort level.

Both are valid. Sometimes you can even have a balance between them, which is a shock to the binary-minded.
