when I picked up my Kostal at Woodstock, i had a chance to spend a lot of time with Stu and Wendy at http://www.takeastandinc.com/

definitely the best looking stands on the market. make great gifts too for the holiday season! check them out when you get a chance!

So far i've only come across people who've commissioned his modified dreadnought, i'd really love to see and hear one of his Jumbo and OM guitars!

I am on JK's build list for an OM (having tried that stunning Koa one he had at Montreal}. I am hoping to have it by Christmas 2012. I'll keep you posted.

Cheers

I'm up for an OM also, in Honduras RW. I'm not totally sure when I'll get it but it won't be before the latter half of next year; I have to move a few instruments to pay for it.

I've not played one of Jason's OMs though; only Mod Ds. What was that Koa model like Vic?

Cheers,
Steve

I hadn't been a fan of Koa until Montreal. At Michael Greenfield's place I got to hear a beautiful nylon string that one of his customers from Japan was picking up - I can't describe the tone except that it has left a deep longing for one the same. Then I got to hear & play Jason's OM, again I was gobsmacked. warm & yet clean & bright. Very impressive.

Cheers
Vic

AGF Community,

Most of you folks missed out on a great time this afternoon... Eric hosted us and it was great to get to know him and his guitars.

I got to spend a significant amount of time with the new Kostal documented in this build thread. It is an amazing instrument...That is actually an understatement.....it is an UH..MAAAZING guitar. It looks great...the rosette, the volute and that glorious Brazilian back. More importantly it sounds great... Big open sound that just rings and rings...Makes me want one... German over Wenge... Time to start saving my pennies

Jason,

If you happen to read this you have quite a salesman in Eric...

Chris

Ruble, your playing was fantastic! thanks for coming out and sharing your gifts and your beautiful Osthoffs!

I was looking at this Brazilian and it freaks me out in some lights you see some crazy green! What is the green we see? You don't see it normally, but under flash and sunlight it pops out! I don't really understand it, but its really neat!

Perhaps a pigment in the pore filler??... Doesn't explain why you can't see it all the time though. Either way, it's kind of cool!
