In case someone is on the fence about the Beesneez 67, on this page the first song, Tiny Moments, the Beesneez B67-269 (Version 1) was used on the acoustic guitar and vocals. The guitar was recorded in cardioid and the vocals in Fig8.
FYI - there's a Version 2 of this mic out now. It's very slightly higher priced and offers additional modern 67 and 269 voicings. Those of us who bought this a while back, from what I'm reading, I think Version 1 is the mic we bought.

I am the artist on that tune...Just a little clarification... its the B67-269 Version 2 not the version 1 Its a fantastic microphone. There is another song on that page called Dark Clouds and it has the B67 on acoustic and my 1978 U87i on the vocals if people want to compare... both are through a Seimens V72 preamp. cheers Wiz |

I had switches 3 and 5 on .. which equate to NEW 67 with S2 Broadcast filter on. I went through all permutations when I got the mic and liked that the best. thanks for the kind words on the tune. cheers Wiz |

I also have the BU-67, which I got exclusively for Acoustic guitar. I also owned a 1970's U87 that I bought brand new back in the day ( probably around 75ish). However when I thought I was done with recording I sold it in the early 2000's. I would love to know which mic(67 vs. 87) you feel ultimately suits your voice the best, & the reasons why. Also, which mic will take loud vocals the best. I always like to get the source's opinion. |

wow, that 75 U87i is really worth some coin now.... 8) I have only had the BU67 for a couple of months...my U87i is really a very special microphone...and the mids in particular are hard to beat... I am using the BU67 on my vocals atm... I will say this... the price point for the BU67 is a bit of a bargain... especially compared to old (Pre AI) U87s that are in good to great condition. I don't really sing loud... so I really can't tell you...which is better there. As far as my nickname...back around 2000 I had a Yamaha AW4416.. and being from Australia which had the nick name Oz... someone tagged me the Wizard Of Oz... and the nick name stuck, Wiz. cheers Wiz |

I just found out that Wind Over the Earth, KevWind's favorite place to shop for gear, is the US distributor for Beesneez mics.

I can Highly recommend. Just tell Mark (the owner) that Kevin from Wyoming sent you, and ask what kind of deal he can do for you.

For those interested in U67 type mics, we just had Chad Kelly (Signal Art Electronics) build us a U67 clone for the studio. Not as economical the BeezNeez, but a superb mic for those looking for something really special. I’ve been really impressed with this one. My favorite studio mic is a U67 & this clone everything I could want in a U67…plus it’s not 60 years old, so I’m less worried about age related problems.

Does Chad expect to add this U67 clone to his offerings at Signal Arts (not currently shown on website), or will it be just a one-off? Best, Lance |

If you ask nicely, and he can source the parts, he’ll build anything you ask for [emoji6] I don’t think he’s going to add the u67 to the regular offerings.
