String keeps buzzing
I have a Custom Shop D-18 12 fret guitar with a slotted head. The B string buzzes when fretted mostly below the seventh fret. If I pluck the string nearer the top of the sound hole (towards the nut) it does not buzz. The closer I get to the bottom of the sound hole, the more it buzzes. None of the other strings do this, just the B string. I have tried different strings and gauges. There is plenty of saddle height.
Does anyone have any ideas what might cause this? It is driving me crazy. Jerry |

Sometimes a loose brace will buzz only when a specific note is played at a specific fret. It can be really mystifying to track down.
Another source of odd buzzes is loose hardware on the guitar, like the buttons coming loose on the tuning gears or a truss rod that needs to be firmed up a touch. If your guitar has sealed gear tuners, take the correct type and size of screwdriver and go around and firm up all the buttons, and take the right size wrench to firm up the nuts. So check that hardware, and if that doesn’t solve the problem have a guitar tech look for loose braces. Hope this helps. Wade Hampton Miller |

Well, it can be subtle, and difficult to determine when braces are loose. That’s why I suggest leaving that part to an experienced pro.

Big chief wyzass say "If sting buzz only at 7th fret, the either string too low over fret, or fret too high.
