Default Webber Roundbody VS OM?????

A while back I played a Webber OM - Rosewood/Englman. I loved it so much i began a search. I could not find an OM for sale, but I did find a Roundbody and took it home with me. It's fantastic and I plan on keeping it forever.

I am debating restarting the search for an OM.
Has anyone played both together. Thoughts...Opinions????
Is there enough of a variance in sound to justify both?
If I can find one I would probably get it but would love to hear what you have to say.

Thanks

You may wish to check the specs on the OM to see if they suit you. I have a Webber 00 (Engelman over Koa), and it has the tonal presence of an OM/000. With a 24.9" scale length, it is also a dream to play. No one who has played has not wanted to kindly take it out of my hands. I have never compared the Roundbody specs to those of an OM, but the 00 may give you more diversity.
In any event best of luck. You know know, as I did when the 00 came to me, that these instruments are something quite exceptional.

David

Long time round body over here, and I've played most of David's other body sizes. I think they are certainly different enough to enjoy having both. Each body really does have its own voice.

Hey Matt,

I've had both...both are outstanding!!! In my opinion, my Roundbody had just a little more bottom end than the OM which I guess is to be expected. I still think my favorite body size of Davids is his 000.... I may have ooold videos of me playing both so send me your email and I'll shoot them over to you.

Thanks
Jeff

Since 1997 I've owned many of David's guitars, OM, Roundbody, 000, and mini-jumbo (several of each). I currently have a Roundbody, 000 and mini-jumbo. His OM is a very good all rounder, although I prefer his Roundbody design and his interpretation of the 12-fret 000 from his mid-sized instruments over the OM.

I own a cocobolo/sitka roundbody (long scale) and a mahogany/Engelmann L-00 (short scale). I've played a number of other guitars made by David, through a local shop: cedar/walnut OM, spruce/walnut 12 fret 000, spruce/EIR MJ, spruce/EIR slope shoulder dread, spruce/walnut L-0 body, cedar/maple roundbody, and a number of Martin and Gibson-style 00s in various wood combinations. So, unfortunately, I have never A/B'ed an OM and RB in the same wood combination. So, with that caveat in mind, it has been my impression that the wood combination (and the unique mojo of each individual guitar), are the main sources of variability between instruments. The two guitars where I thought the body shape made a distinct difference were the L-0 and the the 12-fret (short scale) 000. FWIW, that's my input!

Would love to find a 12 fret. Found one in your area/Portland. Made him an offer. Once i motioned Paypal he ghosted me.

There's also a Roundbody in the Portland area.

The store I mentioned above has a number of new and used Webbers for sale. DK if they have a 12 fret or not. The store in question is Guitars Plus in Victoria BC. In the past, the owner refused to sell online or ship guitars. However, it is under new ownership, and it is my understanding that the new owner is happy to ship guitars. Given the exchange rate on the US$ it may be worth your while to call and ask.
