If I were to do it again, I might consider this:

I would just need a polarity-reversing cable to power everything.

For open stages I use an iRig Acoustic Stage, It clips on to the sound hole in less than one second and plugs into it's included pre-amp. It is a digital microphone that calibrates your guitar to the included pre-amp. It sounds great coming through the house PA system. It sound like my acoustic guitar, not sort of electric or quackey like magnetic or pizo pickups. It works on steel string and nylon string guitars.

That looks great, never heard of it even though I've used an iRig2 for Facebook streaming.

I gather you haven't had feeback issues with this during your open stages?

Thanks for all the advice. I decided to go with the Dazzo pickups. I'm having a luthier who is well versed in installing them as he is a authorized dealer. I think paying the extra for a qualified luthier install is a no brainer.

I will use an external preamp. I think they may be more preamps than pickups to choose from.

It was an interesting selection to make. I think the sound hole pickup was number three and a microphone was number 2 on my list.

They all have their pros and cons.

Again, thanks for your advice and onward to choosing a preamp.

When I bought my first Dazzo, Teddy had been recommending the Baggs PARA DI, but had just switched to the RedEye, which was much cleaner and HI fi sounding, by my third or fourth set, he demoed a SunnAudio prototype. I was a big RedEye fanboy, but went SunnAudio for the warmer and fuller frequency. I'd have no problem with a RedEye.

Here is a big consideration. Your Dazzo will need next to no EQ, unlike a K&K or similar that can use a high pass filter and three bands of EQ. So a unit like a RedEye might seem to lack features, you don't need the features. Now when you know a quality potentiometer costs $20, and good ones do, what do you think is used on a four knob pre selling for $200? The RedEye is made with a low cost transformer they have found is pretty good for the money, which I believe is around $20. The transformer I bought for my Hifi step up transformer was $100 and I could have spent $500. So even with my SunnAudio DI, I've never touched the EQ knobs. You spend money on quality components, not a lot of components.

SunnAudio works hand in glove with Dazzo, so that's what I'd do, but a budget buy of a used RedEye can be had less than $150. A passive DI with a 1 MEG ohm input impedance will get you buy.

Trying to narrow down the preamp field. It needs to be battery powered as I don't want to be looking for power outlets. The short list so far is the Baggs Venue, Red-eye, Sunnaudio Stage DI, Grace Bix, Mesa Rosetta. I could even imagine going with a simple belt clip one like Baggs Gigpro or a cheap Behringer DI ADI21 for the time being.

I may want something today with a little more EQ control/features for possible future guitar acquisitions which I know will happen.

Not sure if there are more preamps than pickups or opinions

Just to clarify, why would you need a polarity reversing cable as the TD will take plus or minus voltage +/- 9-15V? Is it for your other equipment that needs the right polarity and not the TD?

Temporarily I got a solution figured out. I have a portable amp Blackstar Superfly. I can use it as a preamp and send an output to a DI box. Nice thing about this is I like to play backing tracks from my Ipad if I solo. This amp has a Bluetooth input.

I forgot about the need for a 2nd source with my backing tracks so maybe the Boss AD10 is a possible solution.

Yes. Nearly all guitar pedals require 9v center-negative.

Here is my experience. Once I had Dazzos in a guitar, and I thought about trying any of the other options like Trance, I slapped myself silly and said to myself, Teddy can put a pickup in my guitar that will be perfect, why would I want a pickup I had to EQ? When I brought him a Pono parlor, he said want more bass? Yes please. Over six guitars, I have pickups from his 100s to his 55s and everything in between. Every guitar I can take to open mic and plug in and be good to go. So I would tell you, you might never have a pickup other than a Dazzo. Buying a Grace will greatly complicate your life. You need to plug and play at an open mic.

FYI, a new SunnAudio DI 2 is on the horizon.

I have gigged with the cheapo Behringer ADI21 for years. No bells or whistles like reverb, boost or chorus - but a great, simple to use battery powered option. Sounds very good to me, especially at it's price point.

Get one, you won't be disappointed. When you're ready to get a fancier upgrade, you'll have a cheap and functional backup/loaner for almost no money.

Well as I mentioned before I have the Blackstar portable amp that should be able to be used as an amp. The AD121 is a unbelievable price. Well since I made the $$ plunge into the Dazzos I think I will hold back for awhile. Oh wait, there's another $1400 check coming. LOL
