Back from the finisher and on the bench ready for the bridge. But first, a few photos of this gorgeous guitar under finish.

This piece German Spruce has some spectacular silking. And I am really glad to see the rosette did not darken too much.

We can almost see everything on the opposite wall in Jason's shop in the reflection.

I am a fan of satin finish on the neck and Jason's guy really came through.

On to the carving of the bridge ...

Starting with a jet black piece of ebony, Jason rough cuts to shape and lays out the blank.

Then locating and routing the saddle slot.

Locating and drilling the bridge pin holes.

Here the bridge is profiled and the outline of the contours is drawn for reference.

The contour of the bridge is shaped using rasps and files.

Then the bridge is smoothed using fine files and sanded up through 1500 grit.

The outline of the bridge is located on the top and the lacquer removed by scribing the outline with a scalpel and removing the lacquer with one of those fancy chisels we've seen hanging around the shop.

Then the bridge is glued and clamped in place and left over night to set.

Beautiful all around, but the silking of the topwood is amazing. Gorgeous!

That rosette came out a perfect color after finishing. I think we need to invent a new word for the silking as that is simply the most I have ever seen. It looks like ripples from a pond vs. just silking, 3-D !!!

Less than a week until YOU get to give her try! Woot Woot!!!!

Initial setup is done. Jason will let the guitar adjust to being under tension for a few days before dialing in the action during final setup next week. I told him it is all I can do to restrain myself from flying down to Phoenix right now!

The bridge is cleaned up after glueing and the bridge pins holes are drilled through the top.

A caul goes over the top to protect it during the bridge work. A reamer is used to fit the bridge pins individually and the bridge pin holes are champhered.

Jason uses a set of strings to file the string slot in the bridge to insure a tight fit between the bridge, string and bridge pins.

Saddle blank is roughed out and fit.

The tuner holes are reamed and the tuning machines are installed... in this case a beautiful set of custom Gotoh 510s in antique oil rubbed bronze.

Nut is filed and the strings are put on and the guitar is setup to within .010” of final action height. It will pull under string tension for a few days and then Jason will take it down to final action height.

Friday (today) the guitar is off to the photographer for glamour shots. Can't wait to see those.

Those antique bronze finished tuners are a nice touch.
