Default New CF convert

I've been contemplating making the jump to carbon fiber and finally took the plunge today. I ran across a Rainsong CH-OM1000NS and absolutely had to have it. I also played a Black Ice OM and an Al Petteway. Both were nice, but the short scale, 12-fret won me over. I put my J-45 on craigslist a few minutes ago. It's a wonderful guitar and I'll miss it, but I won't miss all the temp and humidity controlling I've done in the past.

Thanks, guys. I'm really excited about having a guitar out on a stand for a change!

Yes, the old gateway CF. Can't stop at one, just ask most of the people on this forum. We're talking some real addiction here. There's one guy on this forum who has like 13-18 CF guitars--but he doesn't have a nylon string CF and he's just about frothing at the mouth for one. You enter dangerous turf.

Congratulations! Rainsong makes some super guitars. One almost stole my heart (and wallet) in my local GC a few years ago, which raised my antenna for CF in general.

That's why I now own an Emerald X20, which can sit out on the stand in Minnesota all year. It just begs me to pick it up and play it every time I walk past.

The Rainsong Al Petteway model is incredibly tempting for #2.

I can see how these can be addictive. I really want to experiment with picks, strings....you name it. It’s a new world to explore.

Great purchase ! You got a good one right out of the gate. I think you'll be surprised how much the CF guitars react to different string choices. Enjoy and welcome to the CF part of the Forum.

True what Kramster said.....A guitar that is out on a stand/hanger is way more likely to be played. I can't tell you how many 3 or 4 minute sessions get snuck in...

Cheers...

Or how many 3 or 4 minute sessions turn into 30 or 40 minutes... Not a complaint, mind you.

I'm at an awkward twist in the Way of the Convert.

I went CF, first with a McPherson Sable and then with Emeralds. I only play my X30.

But I also got a humidifier for my apartment, a big ol' son of a gun that's easy to keep up to the 6 gallon capacity. Easier on the sinuses.

So now I have hercules hangers lining the walls, festooned with.... wood guitars!

I don't play them really. But they sure are pretty.

"Always on the stand" has to be my favorite feature. My CH-WS is sitting 18" to my left, where it always sits, ready for any break in the activity. Lag in the internet? Play some guitar. Lost my train of thought? Play some guitar. Mental roadblock? Play some guitar.

Congrats on your purchase, hope you get lots of quality time!
