Sweet. I've seen a few games at the "new" Boston Gardens. Must be exciting to watch the Bergeron-Marchand-Pasternak line.

Oh well, I guess we all gotta start somewhere.

Best,

Sidney Crosby (Sid the Kid) and Alex Ovechkin were both rookies in 2005-2006 season. Crosby was 18 and Ovechkin 20. They were both touted before their first game as the next big stars and they lived up to expectations. They're the two biggest names in hockey over the past 14 seasons. Crosby is my 2nd favorite player of all time, next to Gretzky. Crosby has the 6th highest career Points Per Game average (Gretzky is #1).

Sat rinkside (row 1 on the glass) at last nights trouncing of the Panthers. Pens looked great. Best seats I ever had at any event and son (a huge Pens fan) called it the best hockey game he's ever been to....a good season so far

Wow!! Row 1 seats! I envy you! I watched it at home, but it would have been a great one to be at if you're a Pens fan, like your son. At that seating level you really "feel" the game.

I’m envious. Those seats must’ve cost a chunk of change. The best I can do is the nosebleed section with all the season ticket yinzers whenever the price is right on Stub Hub. We got lower bowl seats when my father in law came up from Florida to be reintroduced to Pittsburgh winters and topography. The seats weren’t bad but obviously your son has better means than I.

Personally, I’d love seats right behind the penalty box or the bench. When the Pens were in New York some Rangers fan roasted Crosby so well that even Sid was laughing. One was that he was the third toughest Canadian - after Celine Dion and Avril Levine. After the game Sid gave the guy a signed hockey stick that read “take it easy on me next time!”

Anyway, I have 3 weeks to save up. The Pens are out west and won’t have a home game until then. Hopefully Aston-Reese (hand injury sustained in a fight) and Hornqvist (puck to the face) are healed up by then.

Sweet! So close to the action that you can hear the skate blades on the ice and feel the hits against the boards.

Last Men In voting results for the NHL All-Star game have been announced:

Atlantic Division: Jeff Skinner (Buffalo Sabres)

Metropolitan Division: Kris Letang (Pittsburgh Penguins)

Central Division: Gabriel Landeskog (Colorado Avalanche)

Pacific Division: Leon Draisaitl (Edmonton Oilers)

All worthy representatives, and I'm especially happy that Letang was voted in.

Great that Letang is in.

Pens playing tonight. Let's see if Crosby can stay hot against the Ducks.

Pens vs Kings tonight. Man, I hate a 10:30 PM Eastern time start. Hopefully I'll be able to stay awake for this one.

I hit the sack after the 2nd period ended. Seeing the result this morning (LA winning 5-2), I'm glad I didn't try to stay up for the whole game.

At least the Bruins won - beat the Maple Leafs.

TSN has an article that mentions that the Penguins have the toughest remaining schedule of any NHL team, based on strength of schedule. Good thing they've turned things around. The Capitals have a much lighter schedule.

All Star game is next week-end. Looking forward to the skills competition. I'm much less into the game itself the past 20 years given the complete lack of defense.

Pens down 3-1 after one period to the Golden Knights. It hasn't been much fun staying up for the games on this Penguin's western road trip.

It was a blowout; 7-3 loss. I mentioned it a couple of weeks ago how Crosby can have a + game and Malkin/Kessel can have a - game. They each had 1 point last night but Crosby was a +1 and Malkin/Kessel each a -3. I didn't see the game but I take it that was a reflection of their play?

Edit: Just looked it up: Crosby +19; Malkin -19; Kessel -14. It's unfathomable that three stars on the same team can have a discrepancy of 38 and 33 on the plus/minus scale.
