Depends when you ask!
Right now I really like She's Leaving Home. We have 2 grown daughters now married and living their own lives in far flung places, and while we are still very close I miss them mightily. I have XM radio. The Beatles channel is one I listen to every day, without fail.

Strawberry Fields Forever
It isn't even my favourite Beatles song but the chord changes of it have just seeped into my DNA. I just found it totally fascinating as a kid (well, the whole Sgt Pepper album really, but that song in particular). My whole life I have been a sucker for "descending semi-tone" chord changes (for want of a better description). That Mellotron sound too... and the notes played on the dividing sitar riff is a great introduction to whatever mode that is (can never remember the names of modes!)

Today, it’s “she said she said “ & ‘In my life”.
Both tunes can wake me in the middle of the night...so good. Dare I say there will never be another like them. I heard someone say that 100 years from now parents will be singing Beatle songs putting their kids to sleep. Scott |

I do remember watching their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show... vaguely, but I have never been a huge Beatles fan. I don't turn their songs off when they come on the radio, but they, for the most part, just don't move me.
I can, and do, appreciate their talent and recognize the impact they'eve had on music. That being said, I have no idea what era, or eras these songs come from, but I do really enjoy: Come Together and Nowhere Man, I mean these two songs may wind up on the playlist I leave behind that will be played at my wake.

Is there any love out there for Free as a bird? I know the general critical response to it was disappointment - that it sounded like a fatigued 'ELO play the Beatles' fabrication. But I never saw it like that. Ringo said, 'It sounds like them - because it IS them', and that's how it sounds to me, too. And the video that accompanied it seems like a tear-jerking Beatle-celebratory masterpiece.
Am I alone in this?

I have to agree with the critics on this one. Jeff Lynne's over-produced hands are all over this. I am not a fan of his style, too manufactured for me.
