Default March Emerald Select Series

The new March 2018 Select Series was released overnight, with some very nice hand-painted Celtic pin striping. One of the six special green X20's already shows as sold.

I expected the Emerald green for March - the Celtic knot detail striping is classy. Six X20s to pick from (well, 5, since the one is already sold) = some happy new owners.

4 now.

Note that the knotwork pattern is unique it each one. I like "F" the best. Also the 1st one to sell I believe.

And now there are three left...... Seems like choosing X20's was the right call.

It varies from month to month, depending on the Select Series offerings. Some instruments, like a harp guitar or an 8 string bass are likely going to take a bit longer for the right buyer to find them. The traditional best sellers seem to be X20 and X7 models... but what I really appreciate about these Select Series instruments is how Alistair presents them as a monthly collection, and is willing to not "play it safe," but rather create something unique.

When I bought my X20 Select Series, I made that decision the same day they were offered; that Series sold out over the weekend if I recall correctly.

If you aren't willing to wait for a monthly Select Series, with the hope that they will create the guitar of your dreams, you can still get what you want by ordering a Custom and waiting the 5 months or so that it will take to create that guitar just for you.

The guitar you linked to is a cocobolo woody from the January Select Series. They are gorgeous, and what I was considering for a custom build when the louro preto woody Select Series came up. I think that X20 sold right away. I recall with the January Select Series that Alistair said there may not be any more cocobolo offerings when those were sold.

Hope that helps. Contact Sean at Emerald - he is knowledgeable and helpful.

Get on their email list, that way you will know as soon as they are released.

i'm on their email. Woke up at 6:30 am the day they were released and all the wood-topped X-20's were already gone. Is the day the email comes out provided by Emerald? If so, maybe I just need to set my alarm clock earlier.

Those in the earlier time zones have that 2 to 3 hour advantage! Well, unless they sleep in and you are an early riser. It may not seem fair, but that is the price you have to pay to live in California.

Unless someone has "insider information," I am not aware of any advance notice of when Emerald will release that e-mail.

I was in Arizona last year when I saw the e-mail and then the photo of the guitar that hooked me... when I clicked "BUY" the order didn't go through. Error message! Arrrrrrggggghhhhh! A quick contact with Sean made sure that one was mine.

Good luck!

Remember that Donegal, Ireland is on the same time zone as London, UTC +0. In Idaho, I am seven hours behind them - California would be eight hours - so we only overlap a bit. They are usually "off line" by the time I get up.

They don't announce the release date and it varies, but will often send that email out toward the end of their work day, which is the wee hours of the night for most US time zones.

Not sure what you call the wee hours Earl, (your sleeping habits are none o’ my business) ,
but I spoke to Sean and Alistair a half hour ago, about 5.30pm here,
they were just packin’ up for the weekend.

Isn’t it the middle of the day in most of the USA right now ?

It is now noon-thirty here in Idaho, 11:30 in California, and 2:30 pm in New York (eastern time zone). I am NOT an early morning person, so most days it takes effort to get me out and about by the crack of 9 am. Most of the time I see the "offline" chat window when I look at the Emerald web site.

After reading all this time stuff; where I am, it's time for a drink. I'll get back.
(pretty good use of a semi-colon, eh?)
