The j15 is the Martin jumbo which is the 0000 size but deeper body. The 000 is a bit smaller body.

Compared to an 000, the j15 has more low end and volume which I tend to prefer. Even though itís a jumbo itís not huge like say the Gibson j100.

Iíve had it for years. I donít know if Martin still produces them. You donít see a lot of martin jumbos (around here anyways) but they are really great imho for the type of fingerstyle I play. I also have a martin j40 which has the same characteristics but with premium spruce and rosewood tone. Hope this helps.

I've honestly never paid a lot of attention to the mahogany D15. I always assumed it would be more muted a "dull" sounding. I have obviously been missing out. This is a great guitar!

Very nice, I was at an Asheville coffee shop recently and a very talented player was doing a set on the d15, sounded very sweet, warm. Congrats!

It's an easy guitar to love, isn't it ? You'll never regret bringing this one home.
I'm the guy who just bought Guildman's D-15.... can't keep my hands off of it. Going to work and leaving it home is almost painful.

Mine has become my number one guitar. Strong fundamental tones, deep bass. It is what I think of as the quintessential Dreadnaught sound. I tried a number of string sets and to my ears, the Martin Flexible Cores are a match made in heaven!

Hess - just wanted to thank you for your reply to my questions. Do you ever use your J-15 in DADGAD? I have a Larrivee OM-2 w mediums that I just use in DADGAD and itís fine, but not quite the Martin sound I love, especially the all hog models. Been thinking about selling to buy a 000-15m, then read this thread and saw your post. Thanks again!

Hey Ricketts - yes I use the j15 with dadgad tuning (and drop d, open G D and C etc). Itís very balanced with great tone, volume and low end. Perfect for fingerstyle to my ears anyways. The all mohagany has a sound of its own.
