To be fair, the pickup Gibson uses in that guitar is awful, same with the real Hummingbird.
YMMV.

The online demos are terrible. I agree. The pedal sounds much better than that would lead you to believe. It’s a flexible EQ modeled after a 1990’s analog recording mixer channel. You can pretty much dial in whatever sound you could on one of those.

LR Baggs Venue. Works great for me plus a boost and tuner.

I know this is an older thread but I'm curious about the source audio eq...can this be used in place of a preamp pedal then? I just got a yamaha l series guitar which has an under saddle "zero impact" pickup.

Thanks for any information

Can the play acoustic be used with passive pickups?

I’ve tried several of the EQ’s listed and am quite happy with a Grace Design Felix. When it comes to matching impedance, phase, ground, blend, mic, ¼”, DI, boost, 48v phantom, full parametric, and more .... Yes, it is $$$, but nothing I’ve had the opportunity to try has done better. If you’ve not tried one, well, you will be surprised when you do. The ones that have been listed so far are certainly capable, so make sure you try as many as you can, Get what gives you the control and sound you want!

T-Rex Soulmate Acoustic—-3 sweepable parametric eq bands. I think parametric eq’s are the way to go with acoustic instruments and are much more powerful tools than graphic eq’s. I also like the Grace Designs Alix and the Fishman Platinum Pro (but not the tuner).
