Default My First Handbuilt Guitar!

Hello everyone, long time reader, new poster.

After years of dreaming I have finally commissioned to have a guitar built. I want to thank everyone here who's invaluable information and experience helped me alot.

It will be a 7 string acoustic, low B string, and so far we have decided on a Walnut b/s and S.redwood top, cutaway. More details to be worked on as we go.

I hope he doesn't mind my posting his name, but I am going with Nehemiah at Covey guitars. What an awesome person and I feel he completely understands what I am hoping for. I have complete confidence in his decisions and skill, and I can feel in my gut that this is going to be one awesome, amazing guitar. Its already made me happier than just about anything.

Anyway, I had to share, and thank you all for your tireless postings, information and advice. This is a great community!

Congratulations! I hope the build goes well for you; that should be a terrific guitar! And welcome to the AGF!

Sounds great. I'm sure you've gleaned enough insight here to request a photo-log of the construction. If you did, and he's going to do that for you, remember to post up.

I hadn't thought to ask.. but I will. I'll definitely post pics and maybe start a log, hopefully.
I feel like a little kid on Christmas eve, lol. Not only is this my first commission its my first "real" professional level guitar.

So many decisions!

Congratulations, but maybe you should have looked around so you could find someone on the opposite corner of the country.

Nehemiah is a great guy. I'm looking forward to your updates. And make Nehemiah take lots of photos for us.

Congrats! Nehemiah is definitely a standup builder and I'm sure he'll take good care of you. And definitely post the pics!

You know, its didn't occur to me that Nehemiah and I are on completely opposite side of the country. I'm as far south and east as possible, and he is as far west and north.
Is it odd that it makes me want to pick my guitar up in person all the more?

Hi Randy and Welcome to the AGF!

We'll put together a nice 7 string guitar and you can post all the build shots!
I'm not much of a photographer, but I'll do my best.
Picking up your guitar would be awesome, I've had that happen twice, so no, I don't think it's odd at all.

Sorry about being so far away, but the climate is great here.
