Heads up, got a fake PayPal email today
And it sure looked legit at first.
Telling me my account would be frozen because of a fraudulent looking charge for $154.00 I could click the link to verify that all was ok. I did not. I went thru a different browser window and checked my account and all is ok. Last month I got a similar one from my bank. I can see how some folks get fooled by these. |

That’s a good reminder. I get these every once in a while. I trash the message and check my account separately.

I've gotten those scams. I get them from "Apple" as well and of course, the IRS scam calls that you are about to be arrested. Latest for me is the "your student loan is in non-compliance" call.

This one arrived in my inbox yesterday. A very well done email. A simple Google search of "Kroger Secret Shopper" reveals numerous hits
https://www.wcpo.com/money/consumer/...secret-shopper I suppose these scammers must have some success otherwise they would not continue to attempt the scam.

I've had the PayPal thing.
I'm getting a rash of "Invoice reminders along with a copy invoice to be opened. I don't open atts or links from strange businesses or from friends which have no convincing message. It is, however, easy to think you can't get caught. I check my accounts daily.

Riverwolf did the message have your name on it or was it addressed to 'PayPal user'?
Genuine messages always have your name on them. The real service knows who you are. The fake service doesn't. I don't answer anything that doesn't have my full name on it.

Always look at the senders email address. Often there is something fishy in the address. Probably that email from "Paypal" did not even have the word paypal in the address.
