NGD Gibson SG Standard
I've been posting about how much I enjoy my SGs over the past couple of months so here's a new one. A 2017 Gibson SG Standard.
I took it to my guitar tech and he performed a great setup. Pics don't do it justice but here they are: |

dru: that sure is a standard--gibson cherry color and humbuckers. what is the sonic difference between the new one and your others?

Congrats on the great NGD! The first electric guitar I paid for myself (mom co-signed) was a brand new 1970 SG Standard. A friend of mine now owns that very guitar. I sold mine a year after I got it to jump into the acoustic craze. When I later joined an electric band, I bought another SG Standard.
Enjoy!

This guitar has '57 Classics. I also have an SGJ with satin finish that has the '61 pickups (those pickups are now on the 2018 SG Standard) and my 50's tribute has P-90s. I find the '61 pickups hotter than the '57 classics and they sound different too. I would say that '57 Classics are more similar to Burstbuckers than the '61s. The neck is slimmer on my Standard than the other two - I like slim necks. And now I have a hard shell case.

Congrats! I love my (2013) SG Standard. Mine's got the 57's as well.

Hey Bob, I like it a lot. I still need to put on the strap and play it standing up. I'm sure it'll be easier on the shoulder than my Les Pauls. I enjoy slim necks so it's great. I always do my own setup but I got my new tech to do it (he did two acoustic setups/neck resets for me last month). I can say that he's better than me. I learned some stuff from him too, regarding the tailpiece and bridge height, etc. |

Looks like my 2016 with Throbacks, which upped the used price. Mine has the beefy neck profile.
Congrats.

Yep. I owned it for about a year and he's owned it for close to 40 years.

Thanks Kerbie. Poor pictures but the guitar shines beautifully and the grain is nice too.

Unless you like the nude look, spend a couple of bucks on a "poker chip" for the pickup selector. And yes, the '57 classics sound great in this guitar!
