N(U)GD & RainSong setup advice
I just got a new (to me) RainSong.
It’s a PMJ1000. (See pic) It sounds good, even with the dead strings that are it. The action is a little high. Not terrrible, but there’s room for improvement. Any suggestions for trying to lower it? |

If it has the N2 neck, check it for relief and tighten the truss rod if needed. Then the action should be addressed at the saddle. You can always have the nut action checked by a guitar tech.

Thank you. I’m far from an expert, but the nut action looks high.

I have a PMJ-1000, but not very handy (on long term loan to a friend in Tucson). Pretty sure they pre-date the N2 neck but I don’t have access to the old web page that I saved on my computer right now to verify that.
They were laminated back and sides, wood neck, and CF weave tops, made in Korea as an entry level model. Still quite nice and endured dry Alaskan winters and now Arizona weather just fine. Nice guitars. Set up should be just like any wooden guitar. |

Definitely have a good guitar tech take a look. You don’t need a premiere luthier, but a good tech can check it out and let you know what could be done to make the action right for you. The most important part of it is that you clearly communicate to the tech what doesn’t feel right to you.
