I was a SXSW stage manager for 10 years. Steve played at my venue twice and came up a couple of other times to visit. He’s definitely a character and really a great guy.

Steve Poltz performed at the Artisan Guitar Show, and he was fantastic. He told a similar story about Smokey Joe among other hilarious stories. A great entertainer with a great sense of humor and a big heart.

I saw Steve Poltz recently at a nice house concert in San Diego. I went with Tim Luranc, the former Taylor employee #1.

Steve mentioned him in this video. He gave Tim a very nice shout out and mentioned that Tim had fixed Smokey Joe more times than either could remember….

An absolutely captivating performance. I don’t believe I have ever seen anyone play with such joyful enthusiasm.
