I wanted to add something to this discussion that I very recently discovered. Just as an experiment, I sanded down a casein teardrop pick all the way down to .60 mm. I've been amazed. It gives all the rigidity of a thick pick, but with that amazing casein tone.
Important Note: A casein pick this thin WILL eventually break, and it did. But I played it for months and it was really extraordinary. Most picks this thin would be very flexible, almost floppy. Not so the casein, which is like bone.
