String Choice for Versatility on Flamenco Designed Guitar
I just acquired a Cordoba GK Studio Negra with the intent of using it for live playing of 1) classic crooner standards (w/vocals), 2) Bossa Nova instrumentals, and 3) traditional Spanish instrumentals with light flamenco elements. I may use percussive techniques.
My rationale about string choice for my application: Although the rosewood back and sides results in a warmer/rounder tone compared to cypress, the guitar is nevertheless, designed with the more sharp flamenco response in mind. That said, I'm thinking that a set of classical strings will get me right "in between." Hoping this makes sense...
I don't enjoy restringing, so experimentation is last resort. Does anybody have experience with this scenario?
Thanks in advance!
