Now that I've got the basic design elements started, it's time to actually start building this thing! Sides are bent, laminated, and now joined. This is going to have a bolt-on elevated neck, hence the extension on the block. I also decided to stick two lengths of hardwood dowel through the block on either side of the mortise to help ensure a super sturdy and stable neck joint...

Typically when you look at a guitar from the side, the top is (more or less) parallel to the strings and the back angles up and is closest to the top at the heel. Since this will have an elevated neck, I do the reverse and have the top taper down towards the back. Once that taper is roughly set, I sand the top of the sides in a 25' bowl, glue in liners, and here we are...

That's it for now, thanks for looking!

Mike
