I would also think John has the experience to tap test the wood before he turns it into a guitar and have a good feel if the path forward will result in success.

And i have heard that Ramirez built a guitar body out of paper mache (with a spruce top) just to demonstrate how important the top was. Is that a guitar myth or did it really happen?
