My King Billy Pine/Australian Blackwood zouk build is still coming along. I decided on a very nice piece of figured mulga for the fretboard which will be bound in gidgee at Jack's suggestion (most of the non-figured part of that board is excess). Gidgee will also be used as binding on the zouk body because Jack didn't feel our original choice of beefwood offered enough contrast in the end. Mulga will also be used for the saddle.
Jack sent this picture to show how the mulga and gidgee will look together. I really like it. Jack is heading off to the Maton factory next week to get a piece of Queensland maple for the neck. QLD maple has a color much like mahogany.
