Regarding double sides, I’m convinced the sides are part of the sound system, though a minor part, and their “tap tone” should be regarded. Depending on the wood being used, some sides benefit acoustically from lamination and some do not. There are no acoustic benefits from doubling dalbergia sides. There may be structural benefits, probably are from an engineering point of view, but this is one of those areas where structural concerns and acoustic concerns need to be balanced.
