On my Michaud build, we went with a Rocklite/Ebony replacement for the Binding, Rosette, Brace Caps, Fretboard & Bridge. In our case, we wanted as solid black of a colour as we could get, which is one of the features of the Rocklite material. For me I could not feel any difference though I am not particular about the fretboard material on my guitars, other than the look.
