Have a look at Schatten HFN. I have K&K's installed in 3 of my guitars and Schattens in the other 2. Although they may not be quite as hot as the K&K's, I prefer the Schattens. Nothing wrong with K&K but to me, the Schatten sounds better (IMO) with less EQ than a K&K and are easy to install and remove if needed.
I also use a BBE into a Loudbox Mini. I have tried the K&K XLR preamp and Bheringer AD121. BBE works best for me.
