No, because some basically "render in place" every time you modify a track.
Audacity is an example of a destructive editor. To add an effect to a track, it calculates the new waveform and replaces the old waveform with the new effected waveform. You can Undo, but you can't just turn the effect off. It really becomes a problem if you then edit the track further. Unless you undo all your subsequent changes, you can't go back and undo that first effect. I moved from Audacity to Reaper years ago and wondered why I hadn't gone to a "real" (non-destructive) DAW sooner.
