The Kingpin is a good, relatively inexpensive start to an interest in archtop playing, quite a few forum members recommend them and I had one for a few years. Other models in a similar to slightly higher price range are the Eastman guitars, some of which have carved tops which is a bonus. I have one of their pressed top models, an AR 371 CE which I like a lot. It has an acceptable acoustic sound, albeit a bit quiet, but electrically it performs well, a bit 175ish.
