I've played plenty of both and owned the LX1. If you can swing the $ go with the solid top (LX1). If you can find one I'd try the older Ed Sheeran model with the mahogany top. While I don't really like the looks as a whole the mahogany in my opinion has a deeper, richer sound plus I like having the electronics - especially the built in tuner. When I found one I sold my LX1.
